A delegation of Urhobo traditional rulers recently met the Minister of Defence in Abuja as part of efforts to find a lasting resolution to the lingering Okuama crisis. The delegation comprised the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, the Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom, the Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, and the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.
The visit comes shortly after the Federal High Court ordered the unconditional release of the Okuama detainees from military custody. It is believed that the engagement with the Minister of Defence is aimed at facilitating compliance with the court’s order and advancing peaceful efforts to bring the Okuama debacle to an end.
